Understanding the Ramchandra (Part 2)

We've introduced the current scenario and the questions raised on Ram in the last article. Before addressing them, it is essential to know about Ram, the time when he existed and the message he gave.

A painting from madhubani Ramayan

The Ramayana is believed to be written pioneering by a monk,  a Sadhu called Maharshi Valmiki. After that, it was modified according to the time and perspective of the writers. The last version of Ramayana was written about four centuries ago by Shri Tulsidas Ji. After him, a new interpretation is being written by Mr. Amish Tripathi Ji through his Ramchandra series. But why people are mad for Ram? Why did they start worshipping the King of Ayodhya? The answer lays in his life journey, the Ramayana.
There was a king Dashrath of a state called Ayodhya situated in the heartland of India. He had importantly 4 sons( Few versions also say 4 sons and 1 daughter Shanta, but we won't discuss her here). All the 4 sons were brave and obedient. But destiny was harsh on the eldest son Ram. Ram was declared as the Yuvraj( the upcoming king ), but due to a conspiracy, King Dashrath had to order his beloved son for Vanvaas ( Forest Residence) for 14 years. And Ram, without any argument accepted to leave for forest along with his wife Sita and younger brother Laxman. On the day when Ram left Ayodhya, his father died, but he priority to his promise than the funeral of his father.
In the forest residence, fate struck the kind man once more. His beloved wife was kidnapped by some unknown. Ram knew only a direction where she was hostage -South
It was quite obvious suggestions given to him by many people to have a second wife as it was a common practice to have numerous wives. He rejected. And continued his search for Sita. He believed, that he was in a common man mode in forest residence. That's why he didn't summon the army of Ayodhya for searching Sita and decided to do this on his own. Then he built an army in the south, had a war with the kidnapper-Ravan, defeated him and brought his wife back. Then he returned the newly grabbed dominion, Lanka, to the younger brother of Ravan called Bibhishan for helping him in the war. Returned back to Ayodhya where his beloved younger brother Bharat was waiting for him. Ram was coronated and ruled very wisely which led to a happy kingdom- Ram Rajya.
Keep calm and look at Ram

This is Ram's life, idealistic and optimistic. But there are some really important messages from his life which are helpful for us throughout life.
Ram's life was fully tragic. Any ordinary man can not face such worse and dire tragedies. He couldn't attend his father's last rituals, had to sacrifice the throne just before the coronation ceremony, his beloved wife got kidnapped, he had to leave his wife with a child, moreover a Yuvraj in her womb. But he didn't lose temperament, faced each challenge firmly without panic and followed the law and his native niti or Dharma every time, in every role he played throughout his life. And this is why he is worshipped throughout this country for centuries and is called Maryaadaa Purushottam.
  Jay Shree Ram.....

We'll discuss Sita in the next article as Ram can not be understood without his love, his Sita...
